Hello.
(please forgive my bad English!!)
I have purchased an ic-706mkii second hand.
when I transmit on LSB, the output power is low and
the other station says my voice lacks lower frequencies.
On USB the problem exists but less annonying.
While receiving, I visualise the speaker output with
a computer program via sond card, this is what i have found:
on USB, the higher frequencies are lacking or attenuated, because
audio signals concentrated near the 1 Khz side.
on LSB, the lower frequencies are lacking or attenuated.because
audio signals concentrated near the 3 Khz side.
To cure the problem, I turn the IF shift about 3 points counter clockwise,
so,the signals are now well centred around 1,5 Khz, therefor, the audio becames normal.
Unfortunatly, I can't do nothing while transmitting,
I have played whith the Carrier Frequency (which is +-200 Hz) but no improvement.
I suspect the cristal filter (2,4 khz) is failing.
So theorically, is it possible for a cristal filter to break down?
Any idea please
73 from MORROCO.
