[ICOM] Any hope for HM-98S mike?

I know that the Icom HM-98S mike for the IC-2100 has
had enough problems that it was replaced by the
HM-133S. My son and I have three 2100's between us.
One mike was replaced under warranty, and now another
has failed. The price of a replacement is almost as
much as the rig cost.

The push-to-talk has failed, and the rig will not go
into transmit. Don't know if it is the switch, but it
looks like a mess inside the mike.

Any chance this is user or otherwise reparable?
