[ICOM] PS85 Power Supply

Icom (supposedly) did some redesign work on that supply thus I do not
know the EMI level after the changes; not even sure if they are still
made. However, I had one several years back running a '756; the crud
from it wiped out signals on a second rcvr setting 3' away. I was able
to "get rid" of it and went to a quiet, linear (yes, heavier and less
efficient) Astron. Also, the ARRL ran a bunch of switcher tests a while
back and those results were published in QST. I also felt the fan noise
was excessive - small fan/high speed. If you go the Astron route, pick
one step higher in output - cheap insurance and worth the up front $.
One thing I do before running any Astron is to open it up and add three
MOV's to the 110V line.
