      Good evening folks. If you, as I do, use an IC-735 as a mobile rig, 
sans the plastic dust door, then lend an ear. I've missed my plastic door 
for many years, and have worried about the dust, grime, etc., that would 
surely find its way into the 735's innerds. A couple of days ago, a bell 
went off, and I figured out how to fix the problem. First, you probably are 
aware that ICOM does not offer a replacement door. Well, to make a long 
story shorter: Carefully measure the opening. Obtain a plastic CD 
cover/case. Cut a piece of the CD cover to fit. Strip the insulation from a 
short length of 10 ga. wire. Glue the wire insulation to the lower inside of 
the plastic CD (now 735 dust door). Snap the new door on the 735 and you're 
set.
      Works great and looks almost perfect. 73's
