Please pardon the somewhat off topic for some of the groups.I don't know of
a Amatuer Radio metal roof group so I am relying on the groups I participate
in for help. I will be needing a new roof for my home in the near future and
I am considering a metal roof. I have some questions that only the Amatuer
community would understand and with some input it will make my decision
easier and maybe help others.
1. To ground or not to ground the panels?
2. Would a metal roof increase or decrease noise in the receiver.
3. It seems like it would be a good ground plane for a verticle but how
about wires and beam antennas on nearby towers?
4. If in the presence of high static or Broadcast stations how would this
work with #1 and #2?
5. Any hams using a metal roof on a standard home, not mobile, as they are
shielded all around and would act differently?
Thanks for any input and if the moderators would rather I will gladly take
input directly rather than on the list. 73, Rick robinson. K8DXN
