[ICOM] Warning about W1GEE interface cables

Doug,

Never known a Icom CI-V input when operating correctly, that would not 
operate on a CT-17 which is a MAX-232 chip.
Like you mentioned others interfaces might not be applying quite the 
correct voltage level or one that is on the edge of always working. I would 
suspect more likely a rig problem. With lightning strikes possibly 
destroying the interface cables it is quite possible the interface 
transistors internal to the radio are damaged, thus the suggestion for 
trying a 3rd radio, one that was not involved in the unfortunate lightning 
strike.
I did run into what you describe using a DSP-2232 with a IC-970. The 
DSP-2232 used opto isolators and the up / down control of the IC-970 was 
not grounded hard enough.
So you had to add a transistor switch between the two and it worked fine.
