[ICOM] Warning about W1GEE interface cables

Floyd,

Another brought to light you might also have rig problems. I know you have 
tried 2 Icom's but do you or a local friend have another Icom rig to try 
with your new interface cable, software, and computer?
There are only a couple of transistors that interface to the CPU and I have 
seen those transistors open with lightning.

I once went round and round with a customer for some 3 years over a CT-17. 
He would play with it, it would not work for him so he would put it on the 
shelf, this was repeated a few times so the time ran out so long.
Over some 2 years I checked his CT-17, software and even rig all worked for 
me but not him. Out of the blue he called me after about a year and asked 
me if I remembered his troubles. I said yes and he said he cured the 
problem. Well I figured he bought a Yaesu or Kenwood as the cure....he 
tried a different serial cable and it worked. Now you have to know we also 
discussed that and he did say he tried more than one. Search me as to what 
was wrong but he was happy and the CI-V now worked for him.
