Not being at all familiar with the 746 (I guess you mean 746, not Pro or Pro
II which I am told have 5.5 band-pass filters?), if you can open it up for
all band coverage, then give it a shot!. The worst that can happen if the
746 and the PRO's are similar, assuming you are starting with lowest
possible out put power into a dummy load is that there is no output on 60.
If the bandpass filter is affecting output you will see reduced power output
as you increase RF output. Max power on 60M is 50 watts ERP. Most guys
running 160 off center fed's or 80M dipoles run about 30 watts out to stay
well below the restricted ERP level. You could also watch for heat build-up
in the BPF section of the rig? 706IIG is great on 60M but pulling that
little bitty inky dinky diode the size of a leg-less flea is hard for a guy
that wear bi-focals like I do!
