[ICOM] IC765 meter lamp

John - when my 765 meter lamp died last year, I used one of the hi-intensity
white
LEDs from Radio Shack and put a resistor in series so as to run the LED at
just below the rated current. The LED lens focused the light a bit to much,
illuminating the center of the meter quite a bit more than the edges. I
roughed up the end of the LED with some 600 grit sandpaper, making the
resulting light much more diffused and that illuminated the meter face
pretty evenly. A spot of white paint on the end of the lens might be just
as effective. Those LEDs are not cheap, but I'll bet they're less than the
cost of getting a bulb from Icom and you'll never have to worry about one
burning out again.
