[ICOM] FT-9000 - Hello ICOM!

Andy,

The "word" from Dayton has "list prices" at $10k for the 200 watt version with internal power supply and $13k (as stated in AA6DX's original message, below) for the 400 watt version with external power supply. Yaesu says the radio has been 4 years in the making and it is supposed to be available for sale in Japan by the end of this year.

As a lawyer, you should know that "specifications subject to change without notice" and "the radio has not been approved by the FCC for sale" are attached to every new transceiver announcement - even Icom's. This radio appears to be much more than "vaporware."

73,

Bill, W9NHQ

Anyone have any idea when the radio will be offered for sale? At what cost? I noted the ad stated "specifications subject to change without notice" and "the radio has not been approved by the FCC for sale".

Strikes me as a computer generated image of a "concept" radio designed to slow 7800 sales while Yaesu tries to catch up.

Will a working prototype be at Dayton? I'll bet not.

ICOM's new competitor for "King of the Bands" -- the $13K FT-9000 --
4 page PDF file ... (you need to have Adobe Acrobat Installed)
It's big, got a lot of knobs .. and a map!
This is going to be fun! Next?
