[Icom] Inrad Filter Replacements?

Hi John,
For SSB operation, the FL-80/FL-44A pair is probably the best set of SSB
filters Icom ever made.
The 455 kHz Inrad 109 filter is an excellent alternative to the Icom FL-44A.
The Inrad 455 kHz CW filters are also very good alternate choices for the
FL-52A and FL-53A. In general, I tend to be cautious about installing the
wired-in Inrad 9 MHz filters, as lead dress is very critical. The miniature
coax jumpers required for connecting these filters into the IF chain can
give rise to blow-by (signal leakage around the filter).
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [Icom] Inrad Filter Replacements?
Hello,
I am considering replacing the stock Icom crystal filters in some of my rigs
with the Inrad units. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with
these and if they are a substantial improvement over the Icom filters. Many
of the units are wired in and tricky to install. But if it makes a big
difference it will be worth it. Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks.
John, AK3Z
