Regarding the WARC-bands on AL80A and AL80B it's the same
as far as I know. They have sort of "broadband" input circuits, but
on the AL80B you can adjust these circuits without removing the
cover, on the AL80A it's inside and rather difficult to make an
adjustment. I think all Ameritron amps use the same system, using
15 for 17 meters and 10 for 12 meters. No bandswitches for the
WARC-bands even on the ones sold today! However, I think we are
now on the wrong reflector... But final comment, I use an AL80A
for 160 meters, but an SB-220 for other bands, including WARC.
Easier to tune and gives more output, and I think you can get an
SB-220 for the same price as an AL80B (used), but the SB-220
doesn't have 160 meters. Can be converted to also 160, the info
is on Rich, AG6K's WEB-site.
There IS an amp-reflector for these kind of questions!
