Mike,
that is a give-away price as its equiped. About what you should expect to
pay for the older and less refined IC-761. I have a very late model (high 5K
s/n) and would sooner part with certain cylindrical body parts than let that
baby go (certainly at that price).

A year ago I gave a lot of thought about replacing my IC-765 with an
IC-756ProII until I read the reviews at www.eham.com for the 765. These
convinced me to stick with the 765.
Mine has been a great radio although I did have one problem. The beast
wouldn't power up. Going to the Icom web-site, I found that the problem
could be the current-limiting resistor in the power supply (actually it's a
small bar). The corrective action was to resolder the bar and that fixed
the problem. Other than this one thing, the rig has been great.
Bottom line: Go for it, you won't regret doing so.
