[ICOM] 756PRO Bleedthru

I use a 10-30 MHz log periodic up 75 feet and experienced the same
second-order intercept problems with an original 756 and the first PRO. My
PROII is much improved in this regard, although it's still not as
bulletproof as my brand "Y" and "K" rigs. Fifteen meters has always been my
problem band, although I've also seen it on 20 meters when band conditions
were particularly good and signals were very strong.
The preamp(s) makes things much worse. (You can see that in the ARRL
Product Review tests.) The attenuator does nothing to help the problem, but
enabling the antenna tuner on receive provides enough additional front end
selectivity to eliminate the shortwave broadcast images at my QTH.
Users of higher-Q, resonant antennas (or modest verticals and dipoles) on
the upper HF bands may never experience these images, since unwanted signal
levels will never be strong enough to cause a problem.

Bill, W9NHQ
