Bill,

Lots of different opinions on the noise.  A set of fans are on constantly from the moment the amp is turned on.  I believe another set kicks in if the tuner is engaged.  And another when the temp reaches a certain point.  With the amp sitting on the desk, on, and in a long qso it can sound  like standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier.  When placed under the desk it is far more tolerable.  The remote cable is very light, but managable.
