the OPC-599 fits the 13 pin accessory jack on the 706 family and the 718.  It essentially transitions the single 13-pin accessory jack to the 7-pin ACC 1 and 8-pin ACC2 found on many later generation Icom rigs such as the 756 family, 746 family, etc.  With the OPC-599 you can begin to interface other equipment such as the PW-1 linear (via the 7-pin jack).
