I have not found that to be the normal case at all with my 706IIG in my 90
and 00 Subarus. Whether these cars are just RF quiet or I am in a different
location RF wise, I don't know. I DO know that a quick tour thru Emaus PA
which has a BPL neighborhood test going, that the racket is incredible!
S-9+20 digital noise level. Other places this radio is near silent, moise
wise, altho electric fences make some interesting sounds.

Did you try the noise level with the antenna disconnected?
