Tony,
Geeze and I taught one of those guy's at Icom tech support.

The AH-2 will plug directly into of the back of the 706mk2 without any
wiring changes from the original control box.
You do not need the control head for the AH-2, the 706mk2 provides that
function with the tuner button.
I used an AH-2 for several years with my 706mk2.

Starting from the pointed end of the 4 pin connector.
Key - pointed end of connector
Start
13.8 volts
Ground - straight end of connector

Have fun

have a 706mk2 and a ah2 tuner and would like to know if these two are
compatible. manual on 706 says to use ah3 or ah4. the tuner plug on the
back of the 706 matches the tuner but been told better not do it. called
ICOM and the tech support could not answer!! i think someone on this
reflector addressed this question but didn't go into details. any info? no
schematic for the radio so don't know what data is on the connector to
match it to the tuner. the tuner and control head came with a ic735. thanks
