Guys, what's going on???

I bought an IC-756 new in 1999. In about a half a year the famous horizontal
blue lines came up! So what?

I did not do anything woth the radio. I mean, I did not open the cover, did
not take any solderig iron or a hammer, whatever. I just went to the menu
and lowered the backlight. Then the radio was turned off, then on again. No
difference. Then I've lowered the backlight some more, and made the off/on
operation.

The lines disappeared and never showed up again.

I'be been using the radio till spring last year or so. 4 years in a row. NO
PROBLEM. I did a full load for the radio, including 48 hrs RTTY contests,
etc, NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

The radio is now at another user and still running like a champ. The guy
does even know that problems like this might exist.

It looks like if the LCD/backlight are not overloaded by the backlight put
on MAX, it can work much longer than somebody can expect.

GL and 73,
Vladimir EU1SA
