[ICOM] 706 euro/jap version

Hi, I bought a 706g in Tokyo. It is the same model you have. I did the 'diode 
mods' suggested on many sites. All it did is open up the rcv for the entire 
2M band. Xmit is still 144-146 only.
I believe that the Eu/Ja jersion uses a different processor, so the mod for 
the full 2M band is not possible.
Besides, it's too nice a radio to use mobile and have some dumba$$ steal 
thinking it's a CB!!!!
I have several 'less expensive' 2M FM radios which fill that void quite 
nicely....
