[ICOM] CI-V question

Yes, you can set the 775's VFOs that way, and that's just what I'll do
if Gary is unable to get the codes for the direct selection commands.
Since I'm certain those codes exist, I'd rather avoid the VFO swapping
-- its disconcerting for the operator.
I agree that Icom has done a great job with the CI-V command set; the
unnecessary incompatibility between dual VFO and dual receive
implementations is the only tarnish on an otherwise excellent design.
The documentation released with early CI-V radios was a bit terse, but
its improved significantly over the past couple of years.

I would assume if you want to tune VFO B, you would set the frequency
you want in VFO A and then do a swap of A and B. I also assume the main
receiver is always VFO A and the sub-receiver is always VFO B. So to
setup a split of 5 khz for say 14.200 and 14.205, you would send 14.205
into vfo A, swap A and B, and then put 14.200 in VFO A and send the
split command. I know this sounds awkward, but it would work with just
those commands.
I've been through all this stuff very recently when I added ICOM to my
product line. I actually like the ICOM computer command set. It is the
most consistent one of all the major brands across all its radios.
