"I had this problem here in the Buffalo area with a station on 1300KHZ. I
called them and told them about my problem on 3900KHZ. I suggested that
they check their ground system. They did something because it got much
better but the interference at 3900 never could be eliminated. I was a
mile and a half from a 1KW station."

The third harmonic of an AM BC station is a common problem, especially if
their amp is push-pull. I'm a Topband DXer and the local station on 610
kHz is a problem on 1830 kHz for me. Years ago it was much worse until I
confronted the station engineer about it. By retuning the amp, he was
able to reduce the harmonic from S9 down to S1.
The station is about 5 miles away and runs 1000 watts at night.
