Not quite.
I used to have a horizontal loop, approx. 8m (24ft) above ground, 56m (170ft)
circumference. Tuned with a SG-230 tuner right at the loop.
A friend of mine, who has NEC4 and knows how to use it, modelled the antenna
for me. We found that the antenna has only one lobe on 80, with a quite high
elevation angle, two lobes on 40, one high one low elevation.
The higher we went in frequency the more lobes we got - IOW: the antenna has
severe nulls at a lot of elevations.
Practice showed the same: it was an excellent antenna on 80 and 40, still
useable on 30, but higher up it was just a matter of luck if the elevation
angles matched. A GAP Eagle at the same location performed much better on
higher bands (20 to 10m).
