I agree with Ernie. The one thing about my 706IIG
that drives me nuts is the squelch issue. I sold a
2100 and a 207 to buy the 706 and the squelch on 2
meters drove me so nuts I went out and bought another
2100. Good for ICOM, bad for me! I really enjoy it on
HF...not so much on VHF/UHF. A way to toggle between
scan and no scan without losing sight of the alpha
tags would be nice also. Fewer menus and more buttons
like the TS 480 would be welcome. And if we're really
going to make it a VHF rig, adding 222 Mhz would be
the bees knees.
All that whining aside, I still think it's a
pretty amazing rig and the thing I admire most about
it is that it really is rugged enough to stand up to a
mobile environment.
