Tony,
My 53 week old PW-1 had the same exact symptom... Icom honored the warranty
even tho' it was a week over... it cost me $209 shipping, but they replaced
one final, a diode on the filter unit and a relay driver IC on the main
board...
I got it back, and while setting the ALC level, the PW-1 went poof.. Icom
suspects shipping damage, but who knows... it is trucking back across
America as I type..
But the point is at least one of your finals is probably toast. The parts
listed on my warranty invoice would have cost $150.00, and no labor hours
were listed. The invoice also warned me to set the ALC and never let it
deliver more than 1KW(which I had done properly BTW). Mine was the first I
had seen with a problem after being on this list over a year.

Harry, with regard to the ALC adjustment, just a few watts of drive makes
the amp kick out so it is not possible to make the adjustment.
Johnny, All the voltages seem to be there, so I think the PS is OK.
When the amp kicks out besides the AMP/PROTECT led turning red, the AUTO
led blinks. According to the instruction manual a blinking AUTO led fault
indicates the "power level of the 4 PA units becomes unbalanced". That
leads me to believe I may have lost one of the output devices. The RF
output stage is comprised of 4 boards, each with a pair of MRF150 devices
and the output of each board is fed into a combiner via an RCA plug. Any
PW-1 owners have experience in individually measuring the RF output of each
of the PA boards? If so, what did you use to do it with? Thanks, Tony N2SS
