[ICOM] IC-2350 question

I have an ICOM 2350H, with the UT-101 and UT-89 modules installed. When I
programmed the radio to use tone squelch, the squelch worked intermittently.
Sometimes it would work when I first turned the radio on, sometimes not.
When it did not, if I keyed the transmitter, it would work for a while, then
quit. I could understand the dropouts if the signal strength was low, but
not when it is nearly full scale at my location and full quieting into the
repeater when I turn tone squelch off.

I took the radio apart, checked and cleaned all the interconnects between
the front panel and the radio, but found nothing obviously wrong, such as a
broken trace, bent pin, etc. I put the radio back together, and could not
get the radio to malfunction. That was two weeks ago. It has worked reliably
since then, but has now started intermittently malfunctioning again.

Anyone know of a service issue regarding this on either the UT89 or the
radio? It gets pretty frustrating trying to use the tone squelch. Here in
Houston, intermod is severe enough to make tone squelch a very handy
feature.
