Well RF getting into the power supply. I don't know how many calls I took
over the years with Early Astron's doing the same thing. When I worked for
Icom I used to send out little drawings on how to install some bypass caps
into the Astron to prevent that from happening. The 723 voltage regulator
in the Astron did not like RFI.
Luckily for you and others the power supply did not go over voltage. Astron
has since fixed that issue. I have an Astron 35 and no problems with it.
We had one guy who I went a number of rounds with his IC-735 sticking into
transmit. He argued it could not be his supply. The supply was dropping
like yours and causing the 735 to hang in transmit.
I convinced him to try a PS-55, he did so kicking and screaming, but his
troubles went away. He was using an Astron RS-20 at that time.
Good Find and Fix I am glad its working for you Carl.
