Carl,
I have been there and done that. Make sure you are not on the receive ant.
sounds like you are getting rf into the front end, my Pro II went back two
times for that same thing.
go to www.sultantronics.com for the beverage ant saver. To check if the RF
has done any damage go to 10 and 12 meters and see if you can load up, if it
goes into self oscillation the diodes are gone. It will still work OK on the
other bands.
