[ICOM] RE: IC-7800 vs.Orion

Hello all,  IMHO, it all boils down to what your main purpose is in a rig. 
Some people drive Lincoln's & Cadillacs, Others take their top fuel dragsters to 
the strip on race day. The 7800 is the lap of luxury, the Orion is a stripped 
down pure techie / CW contester's rig. They both have their merits. 
Personally, I don't think the Orion is as ugly as the Pro III. To me, the little panel 
on the bottom of the PRO III where the mic gain, power, key speed etc. knobs 
are looks to me like something they forgot to include in the main panel, so 
they added the extra piece on the bottom as an afterthought. The color display on 
the PRO III I like much better than the Orion Monochrome. So they all have 
pros & cons.

If everyone wanted the same thing, we'd all be driving Lincolns, or Top Fuel 
dragsters Hi HI.
