[ICOM] IC-718 in CW Mode

If the gentlemen is able to send CW as originally described, he is already
in the CW mode. It sounds like he wants manual transmit control, without
having to connect an external foot switch to the rear panel accessory jack.
Since the radio does not have a front panel "Transmit" button, it looks like
he is out of luck. The easiest work-around would be to use a microphone
with a locking PTT switch, or one of the Heil microphones with the 1/4 inch
pigtail jack on the mic plug for connecting a Heil foot switch.
The IC-718 will operate in QSK modes. Full instructions for enabling QSK
(full and semi break-in), along with external switch connections, can be
found on page 31 of the downloadable manual.
(I hope I'm still breathing and know who I am when I hit 100!)
73,
Bill, W9NHQ
