John... With some of my Icom's I need to have the VOX system set to the
right parameters... You might see if he can key the unit by using the
VOX ON/OFF, VOX Delay, VOX Sensitivity. I don't have a 718, but this is
how I get my 781 to work on CW..

Subject: [ICOM] IC-718 in CW Mode
I am trying to help a friend of mine. He is Ted, K6YN, and he will be
100
years old at the end of April.
He just purchased a new IC-718 and is having problems getting it in the
CW
mode. He tells me that he must hold the microphone button down in order
to
send CW with his bug. He said he read the manual and the only way around
holding the mic button is to install a foot switch.
I am a TenTec owner so I am ignorant of the IC-718 set up.
Can someone please explain how to put the IC-718 in the CW mode so he
doesn't have to hold the mic switch?
A second question, can the IC-718 operate QSK CW? If so, how does one
put
it in the QSK mode?
Thanks es 73..de John/K4WJ
