Hi gang,

I just acquired a used IC-706mk2g. When I program the memories, as I use
them, say go from position #1 to #3, if memory position #3 is an FM mode
selection, the rig will automatically go back to VFO mode and stays there
until I select any other mode which makes the rig go back to memory mode.
The same happens when I hit a blank memory bank.

For example, I programmed memories 1 thru 25 with my favorite freqs. 1-10
are HF SSB, 11 is HF FM - a 6 meter repeater-, and 12-25 are the local
VHF/UHF FM repeaters. I can use the up/down buttons to select anything from
1-10 as I please in memory mode, no problem. The minute, I reach position
11, the rig goes back to VFO mode on it's own and memory mode can no longer
be selected unless I change the mode to anything other than FM. I then went
ahead and mixed them up, position 1 SSB, 2 FM, 3 CW, 4 RTTY, and 5 AM. From
1 to 2, the rig jups back to VFO mode. From 3 to 5 no problem, it stays in
memory mode. If I go to position 6, which is now blank, the rig would also
go to VFO mode. Now that I think about it, I did not try scanning to see
what happoens. I'll try that next. I tried resetting the rig using
power-on-lock key combination. Is that the right reset command?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Carlos. KF4RRN
