[ICOM] IC-R1 question.

Hello all,

I got my R1 receiver off the shelf this evening after quite some time of not
being used.

I decided to try it for a bit of a change.  I discovered that the unit would
no work when trying to switch on.  After several attempts with a couple of
battery packs and even DC straight into the power jack it still wouldn't
work.   I read in the owners manual that if the lithium backup battery
becomes discharged this will happen.  I am trying to charge the unit up at
the moment and get all the internal batteries back into service.

Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone had to even replace the
internal cell?  I don't mean the internal nicad pack that actually powers
the radio while operating I mean the lithium cell that keeps the memories
and clock etc running.

I have this concern only because it has been out of use for probably 3
years.
