[ICOM] Yet another question about 706 rig

Its an old house. There are three pronged outlets but not three wires to the
box.

Besides that I constantly hear that a rig should be grounded using the
shortest possible route to ground and to have a separate ground from the
electrical circuit.

Often Electrical boxes are grounded through galvanized rods instead of
copper ground rods. Radios should be grounded to copper ground rods.

That's what I have learned and is reinforced by the ARRL Handbook, antenna
book and an independent author's antenna book.

Buck-

With all due respect, if your mains are three pronged with proper house
grounding, why would you want to additionally ground your equipment with a
separate "wire out the window"? Doesn't that type of extra grounding invite
stray RF, ground loops, etc?
