With the ground wire out the window it becomes part of what the rig sees as antenna.  Try going to eham.net and read the article by WB2WIK.  Read up from the arrl antenna book.  You don't say what antenna is being used and that is pretty important to the original question and what gets picked up by the window ground wire and what rf feedback is experienced.  73, Dwight <k2kwk at arrl.net>
