It's also possible that RF may be getting into
your Heil microphone.  I cannot use my SM-8
mic on my 746 for that reason.  Hand mic
works just fine.  I have no currently practical
means to rid the shack of the RF other than
using a "shielded" antenna.    ;->

Have you set the transmit microphone settings to what
Heil recommends?  If not, the data is available on the
Heil website or you can e-mail Bob Heil...he is very
good about responding.  I have the same combination
using a 746 Pro and it works great.
