[ICOM] FL-53 vs FL-53A ?

Unless someone can tell me otherwise that it's not the case.... I have been
informed that the FL-53 and FL-53A are electrically identical.  Apparently
the FL-53 is taller then the newer FL-53A and but for that fact is
interchangable with the "A" model where it will fit in height.  Apparently
some rigs can't use the non-A as it's taller height is an issue.  The email
I received was from another user of a 718 who reports happily using the
older FL-53.
