Hi Marty.
The ESD fix is intended to address the transmitter failure issue. The Icom
service bulletin for the ESD fix (a couple of diodes to protect the IC151A
transmitter control chip) is downloadable on Icom FAQ:
http://www.qsl.net/icom/
If you join the IC746 group (IC746 at yahoogroups.com) you will be able to
obtain detailed information about the ESD issue. Current IC-746Pro units
will have the ESD mod factory-fitted.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] ESD Mod
Hello to all the reflector members,
Can anyone tell me what the ESD modification is for the Icom 746 Pro ? I am
purchasing one that is 1 1/2 years old and wonder if this mod is the tx
problem that some had. Thanks for any help. 73 and g.b.
Best regards,
Marty, W3QK
