Hi Marty,

*Warning!* It is not safe to operate the IC-4KL without ALC. The Orion does
not have an external ALC input. I would strongly urge you not to attempt
operation of the IC-4KL with an exciter that does not provide a means of
connecting the amplifier's ALC line.

You will note that a solid-state amplifier's ALC line is its first line of
defence.

Hello to the other reflector members, 

I have talked to Ten-Tec about hooking up my Orion to an Icom 4KL. At
Ten-Tec they told me that the plug on the back of the rig provides a ground
to the back pins. Does anyone have a Ten-Tec hooked to a 4KL, or can provide
the answer as to whether this will work. Thanks in advance for the help. 73
