Hello !

I know you don't like brand Y, but I have a Y VX-2r, which is a great little
radio. Just make sure you get a replacement antenna for it-the stock one's
a chew toy for the dog.

I worked repeaters while in Berlin, Germany. The radio is tiny, and that
makes it easy to carry or pocket.

The VX works well both at my suburban QTH and in New York City. Even hears
SW broadcasts decently. I've taken late night walks to the BBC and CBC.

While it won't trunk, you can also hear 800 mhz public safety, although the
FCC regs have resulted in some odd noncell holes up there.

Get the accessory earphone before you go. This rig is tiny, but NOT a toy.
