It depends. 6 meter openings are usually driven
by sporadic E propagation, which is, erm sporadic.
The rest of the time it is quite useful for local
communications.
Predicting whether 6 will be open is not nearly as
easy as knowing when 20 will be open, for example.
Best way I've found to see if it is open is to monitor
for beacon activity on the low end. If you hear anything
it is open, if not, it isn't
As far as repeater activity on 6, I've yet to run across
any in my area - the southeast - regardless of the theoretical
listings in the repeater guide. Michigan may differ.
