I don't have a recomendation for the optimum HT to take but I do have 
some advice. Do not carry your HT in your carry on baggage. It makes 
people over there nervious. I almost didn't make it out of Denmark due 
to my Icom in my carry on.
Have fun and enjoy yourself. Also down load the International license.
