Bill - here's something I ran into when repairing my 765 after a lightning
strike last summer. The internal speaker worked fine, but an external
speaker plugged into the ext spkr jack produced no audio (the zap entered
the 765 via the speaker line). I removed the board containing the output
jack, thinking the jack was likely fried. After metering out the audio
signal path carefully, I found that a circuit board trace that fed the audio
to the jack was simply gone from the board. No sign of burning on the board
and no sign of the remains of the trace. A jumper wire fixed the problem.
