Sorry about the previous blank message. I have 3 email domains and only one
is subscribed so I hit the wrong icon.

Time to laugh....  I had a talk with the insurance adjuster today and he got
a "lightning expert" on the call also.

He asked me all about my tower grounding, entry protective devices etc.  He
said that I had went far beyond the code on this installation.

What made my day was when the "expert" told the adjuster that more than
likely, had I not had a big lightning rod ( my tower ) 47' above for the
strike to find first, they would probably be looking at a total home and
contents loss cause the strike was heading for the house and the tower
presented an ideal discharge path for it instead of the roof and metal vent
pipes and flue.

He said that with the grounding system that I have, it took the majority of
the strike to ground.

Is the "expert" a ham?  Yes, and also a communications engineer. No he would
not tell me his call. He likes to lurk in the background and not involve
radio.
