I have two very special IC-765's, both from my own collection, and am
considering selling one (maybe both) to make space. The two are
identical except for serial number. If you want one of the finest 765's
available anywhere, here's your chance.

One is serial no. 5109, which makes it, as far as we can tell, one of
the last 200 to reach the U.S. Purchased new 1996, so it is certainly
one of the very last sold new in the U.S.

The other is serial 5291, which makes it one of the last 50 to reach the
U.S. Also purchased new 1996.

Neither has more than 50 hours use, only in my shack. Both have CR-282
hi-stability xtal osc, UT-36 voice synthesizer, and InRad 1.8khz SSB
filter installed, plus new, never-installed UT-30 tone encoder. Both
have the following major mods: replacement of all problem
trimmers/electrolytics; passband tuning; improved QSK; IF gain adjusted
for best possible noise floor; seech processor adjusted for minimum
distortion. Both had all functions and controls checked and both were
aligned (by Scott Malcolm, Icom tech and prop. of Malcolm Technical
Support)in Spring 2004.

I have personally tested these radios against a 775, 781, FT-1000D, and
TS-950SDX in my shack (antennas a 10-el log-periodic, 2 el 40m
HB9CV-type array, and GAP Voyager). Both 765's are as or more sensitive
than any of those other radios, all bands. Both have a better noise
floor than any of those other radios.

Both radios come with original manual; AC cable; and original
boxes/packing. Outer boxes show age because used to ship a number of
radios, but are still very strong and suitable for safe shipping. 5291
manual is still in unopened pack. That radio also comes with a new,
Icom-produced copy of the service manual and new, unopened connector pack.

Basically, there is nothing more to buy and nothing more to do to have
the best 765 you'll ever see, with either rig. They are true collector
(not to mention competition) quality. I will sell no. 1 (sn 5109) for
$1,495 + shipping. I will sell no. 2 (sn 5291) for $1,895 + shipping.
Tks es vy 73 to all!! Jan N0JR
