Blair & All: I have owned & examined both mikes, and found the only difference to be the addition of a .001uf capacitor placed across the audio output line in the HM-36. The HM-12 audio sounded much better on my 756PRO than did the HM-36. As a result, I removed the .001uf cap across the audio output in my HM-36. It then sounded identical to the HM-12.
