[Icom] Icom 2000 Molex Connector

Icom's inclusion of fusing on both power leads is
of fairly recent vintage (15 years or so). The
Icom gear I had during 70s and early 80s had
only the positive lead fused.

Some 15-20 years ago, I sold my wife's IC-25H to
a friend. Somehow, his car wiring lost its ground.
He had the mike hung on a hanger that was
grounded. The car tried to get its ground through
the ground on the mike. Needless to say, melted
mike was the result.

Just as a note, I have been using Icom gear
since 1972. My IC-21 was the second Icom in
Oklahoma. A friend, now SK, had the first, an
IC-20 about two weeks before me. In all, I
own or have owned close to 35 Icom rigs
including Marine and FRS.

Hi Gang,

Concerning the power cables used on Icom
and other ham radio gear, can someone
explain what the purpose is to have a dual
fused line?

Since I will be making my own power cable
shortly, I am trying to decide if I should
replicate the fuse on each wire, or just go
with one inline fuse.

A big thank you to Dick Flanagan and Gary Fiber
for their help with my Molex connector issue.

I have two connectors on order now so I can
make my own cable.

Great list!!

Thanks guys.

Mike, N2QAC
