I have two fuses in each line on my mobile installation. One fuse on
each line at the radio and one fuse at the battery. This is in addition
to the Icom line fuses that come with the radio. The fuses at the
battery are to protect the wires if the insulation should fail and a
wire short out.
Since my IC 706mkii is remoted from the read of my van I installed a
power cable intended for a 500watt audio amp. This wire is extremely
large in both diameter and wire count. I haven't measured the voltage
drop but it should be very low.
