I think its at the level of "if you have to ask, you can't
afford it". Actually, for some I'm sure the price alone is an
attraction since it makes it just that much more exotic.

In the end, regardless of its paper specs, I doubt if this giga
dollar Icom will allow much practical superiority over what is
currently available. Many will buy; few will be able to exploit
this radios capabilities. Just about any radio made in the last
3 years (and probably more) are dead even in effectiveness. If
you can't make contact on a 781, 775, 950SDX, 1000D (and many
others) its extremely unliklely you'll be successful on this
thing.

But maybe that isn't the point.....
