[Icom] MFJ

Hi group,

Just a quick note to express my MFJ experiences. I use an Icom IC-735 and
feed the antennas with a little MFJ 941D Antenna Tuner I bought at a hamfest
for almost nothing. It works really well and is every bit as good with the
100 Watt level 735 as a much larger Heath tuner. My 259 antenna analyzer is
great and I'd be hard pressed to do without it for building antennas and for
setting the tuner without transmitting.

All this being said, I won a couple of MFJ mini mag mount antennas at our
local ham club. The 2 meter one tunes great according to the antenna
analyzer. The other one, a 2 meter - 70 cm model is tuned to about 118 MHz!
I sent MFJ an E-mail and they say I must have damaged coax or something!
This for a brand new product. I can't check it on 70 cm so don't know how it
tunes there. I did learn a good lesson - check new antennas and be sure they
are really up to specs.

73 to all,

Norm Hall, W6JOD/0 at the moment.
